How Does the Lawyer Referral Service Work?

The Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) maintains a list of pre-screened Monterey County attorneys to help with your specific legal needs. LRS attorneys have specialized knowledge in several areas of the law, are active members of the State of California Bar and carry errors and omissions insurance.

How Much Does the Lawyer Referral Service Cost?

You pay a non-refundable $50 administrative fee prior to receiving a referral, which entitles you to a 30-minute consultation. We accept cash or credit.

What does the Fee Provide?

The $50 fee provides a referral to one of our local attorneys for a 30-minute consultation to discuss your matter.

If the attorney you were referred to cannot see you as quickly as you need, or informs you of a conflict of interest, call us back and we will refer you to another attorney.

When will I receive A Referral?

A referral is provided after the fee is paid.

Do I have to retain the services of the attorney to whom I am referred?

Neither you, nor the lawyer, are under any obligation to continue beyond the first consultation.  If your matter requires further legal services and you elect to hire the lawyer, you and the lawyer will discuss attorney’s fees.

What is the Purpose of the Lawyer Referral Service?

The purpose of the Lawyer Referral Service is to serve the community and improve the quality and affordability of legal services as required by the California State Bar Rules.
