Presentation Description:

Repeat DUI offenders typically differ from others in the criminal justice system.  Most are employed, have homes, families, and otherwise engage in productive activities while they continue to make poor choices centered around the abuse of alcohol and/or drugs.  While traditional DUI Treatment Courts work, they don’t necessarily address the individual needs of all DUI reoffenders, nor do they operate at scale.  By implementing a comprehensive approach, Monterey is able to include a larger population of DUI offenders and customize the interventions to their individual needs.  Utilization of a DUI-specific risk assessment tool differentiates DUI offenders who have an addiction from substance abusers.  San Joaquin Court serves as a model and has been evaluated and proven effective for over a decade.  In our first year of the multi-track system, Monterey County Superior Court is interested in providing you with an introduction to the program concepts, the associated supervision and treatment strategies, and answering any questions you may have.
